If you are removing your LHS engine cover / stator cover, it’s a good idea to replace the gasket to ensure that the cover remains waterproof upon re-installation.
To remove the old gasket from the engine block and the engine cover, use a razor blade. Remove all parts of the old gasket to ensure that the new one seals properly. You may also smear a small amount of engine grease on the gasket, which will aid with sealing, and will make it easier to remove the gasket in the future.
